The Divine Office (also known as the “Liturgy of the Hours”), from which Daily Prayer is taken, provides a framework of prayer to bring the worship of God into the different hours of daily life. It continues the traditions of centuries that is perhaps most widely recognised as part of monastic life, “marking the hours of each day and sanctifying the day with prayer”.
