According to Church tradition, the period of Lent lasts for forty days, from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, the day before Easter. It is a period of repentance, fasting and preparation for Easter. It is a time for self-reflection and examination; to contemplate the significance of Jesus’ death on the cross and the resurrection.
The 14 Stations of the Crossby Dianne Minnaar depicts one of her most well-received artworks to date. The materials and techniques used in the making of the art piece were thoughtfully incorporated to illustrate Christ’s journey from Gethsemane to Calvary. Join the artist on 12, 13 and 14 April to learn more about the making of the 14 stations, watch her complete a live painting, and learn some painting techniques at her Painted Scripture Retreats!
Exclusive 14 Stations-themed products, such as signed bookmark reproductions of the artwork, and limited reproductions of other sacred images will be on sale during the exhibition. Proceeds will go towards the Bible Mission and charitable causes.
Dianne Minnaar has been a professional artist and calligrapher for over 35 years. After graduating with Biblical Studies and Graphic Fine Art degrees in her native South Africa, she emigrated to Australia in 2001, where she currently resides. Dianne is extremely adept in interpreting ancient Christian imagery into contemporary context, and her artworks have been included in numerous collections worldwide. She is also a firm advocate for Scripture engagement.
